OCUPAÇÃO MONARCA - Lisboa

A intervenção urbana OCUPAÇÃO MONARCA - Lisboa consiste na aplicação de lambe lambe (impressão com tinta acrílica e carimbos criados pelo artista s/ papel, cola de amido) sobre postes e outras peças do mobiliário urbano em estado de degradação no Rio de Janeiro. Em Lisboa, o lambe lambe assumiu a forma de azulejo de papel, para ser aplicado em paredes e mobiliário urbano em estado de degradação, e em alguns casos, como complemento às faltas de azulejos em fachadas.



Nesta intervenção temos como base a icônica imagem de um soldado em uniforme camuflado e armado com um fuzil, com asas de borboleta saindo de suas costas, que pode ser encontrada em vários outros trabalhos do artista, acompanhada aqui de novos desenhos, todos advindos do universo militar: tanques de guerra, granadas, bombas, pistolas, facões, entre outras, ornamentados por uma variedade de flores. Esta série foi criada como uma referência aos azulejos de figura avulsa portugueses.

Os projetos de arte urbana de Fábio Carvalho atuam como pequenas inserções, peças que invadem o espaço quase como um parasita. As intervenções aparecem mais por tensionarem o que já está lá, em vez de impor-se de cima para baixo a um espaço. As intervenções exigem uma certa intimidade para entrar em ação. Eles permanecem dormentes até que você as ative com o seu olhar. Eles não gritam - sussurram.

The urban intervention MONARCH OCCUPATION - Lisbon consists of "lambe lambe" (rubber stamp prints with acrylic paint on paper, starch glue) on walls and street furniture in degradation conditions in Rio de Janeiro. In Lisbon, the "lambe lambe" took the form of a paper wall tile, to be applied on walls and street furniture in poor state of maintenance, and in most of the cases, on tiled facades, where the original ceramic tiles were already missing, by decay or theft. No real tile were covered by the paper tiles.



This intervention is based on the iconic image of a armed soldier in camouflage uniform, with butterfly wings out of his back, which can be found in a variety of other art works by the artist, accompanied by new images, all of them belonging to the military universe: tanks, grenades, bombs, pistols, machetes, among others, embellished by a variety of flowers. This series was created as a reference to the portuguese's single figure tiles.

Fábio Carvalho's urban art projects act as small insertions, pieces that invade the space almost like a parasite. The interventions appear mainly by tensioning what is already there, rather than imposing themselves top down to a space. The interventions require a certain intimacy to get into action. They remain dormant until you activate them with your look. They do not shout - they whisper.
